Education

We believe in empowering users with knowledge, not just numbers, to make informed health decisions.

Our Story

WiseBMI was founded in 2024 with a simple yet powerful vision: to make health calculations accessible, accurate, and actionable for everyone. Our journey began when we noticed a gap in the market for reliable, user-friendly health calculators that provide more than just numbers.

We recognized that many existing BMI and calorie calculators were either too simplistic or overly complex, leaving users confused about their results and next steps. This inspired us to create a platform that combines scientific accuracy with practical guidance.

Today, WiseBMI serves thousands of users worldwide, helping them understand their health metrics and make informed decisions about their wellness journey. Our commitment to continuous improvement and user feedback drives us to enhance our tools and expand our educational resources.

Our Methodology

How we ensure accuracy in our calculations

📊

BMI Calculations

We use the standard WHO BMI formula: weight (kg) / height (m)², with proper category classifications for adults.

  • • Underweight: BMI < 18.5
  • • Normal: BMI 18.5-24.9
  • • Overweight: BMI 25-29.9
  • • Obese: BMI ≥ 30

BMR Calculation

We use the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, considered the most accurate BMR formula for general populations.

  • • Men: (10 × weight) + (6.25 × height) - (5 × age) + 5
  • • Women: (10 × weight) + (6.25 × height) - (5 × age) - 161
  • • Accuracy: ±10% for 82% of cases

Activity Factors

We use scientifically validated activity multipliers to calculate Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).

  • • Sedentary: 1.2
  • • Light Activity: 1.375
  • • Moderate Activity: 1.55
  • • Very Active: 1.725
  • • Extra Active: 1.9
